Co-founder, Rockmount Limited
Lucy Muthusi is a wife and mother of two girls, a passionate women’s empowerment enthusiast, and the co-founder and head of the finance and accounting department at Rockmont Limited, a business that provides clean water to homesteads in the rural, arid Kitui county, East of the Kenya capital, Nairobi. The search for water, especially in rural areas, is primarily the responsibility of women and girls which usually involves trekking for kilometers. Rockmont Limited provides water directly to homesteads through pipework from a single source. As a result, they have provided job opportunities directly and indirectly, improved the performance of girls in school, and reduced early and teenage pregnancies and sexual assault. Thus far, they have reached 170 homesteads and aspire to grow this to 2,000 homesteads in the next five years. Through her work, Lucy has been recognized by ALX to participate in its Financial Analyst Program cohort 3, an African organization that operates in all African countries that believes in creating impact by doing hard things, and is now a Room Fellow through it. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management- Finance and Banking from Moi University is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a certificate in Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst from the Corporate Finance Institute. She aspires to lead an organization with global presence and influence and soon enroll in a postgraduate degree program to study economics at one of the Ivy League Universities. Lucy believes that the world has enough resources to afford every person on earth a life of dignity.
