Latin America and the Caribbean Program

After the recent election of two female presidents and international research finding approximately 30% of the region's corporate positions filled by women, the region has gained global attention as a pioneer in recognizing women's leadership potential. Yet while the region has witnessed a rise in women's participation in society, more change is required to address the inequalities that remain. Moving forward, Vital Voices will continue to invest in emerging women leaders throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to promote women's empowerment and positive change.

Ongoing Initiatives

Latin America and the Caribbean Businesswomen's Network

Drawing on the demonstrated success of the Middle East North Africa Businesswomen’s Network (MENA BWN) and the Africa Businesswomen's Network (ABWN), Vital Voices will be launching the Latin American and the Caribbean Businesswomen's Network (LAC BWN). The program will be a multi-stakeholder partnership between Vital Voices Global Partnership, Vital Voices chapters, local women's organizations, the ExxonMobil Foundation, the Wal-Mart Foundation, the Organization of American States, and other partners.

The goal of the initiative is to build the capacity of local organizations, including networks and chapters, enabling members to advance the interests of businesswomen, to support the growth of members’ businesses, and to advocate for policies that expand economic opportunity for women.
